This historical object was used by the Royal Navy for experiments made after Prof. Alessandro Artom of Polytechnic of Turin had informed the minister about the possibility of radiotelegraphy with close and perpendicular antennas in 1903. The radiogoniometer (direction finder) was created ioned test. It was used in the first world war and then developed for radionavigation, becoming furthermore an effective instrument in sea rescues
